Dr. Robert Shallenberger will explore the biology of Hawaii’s seabirds through the perspective of a photographer, sharing strategies to capture images that promote awareness and appreciation.

Dr. Robert Shallenberger will explore the biology of Hawaii’s seabirds through the perspective of a photographer, sharing strategies to capture images that promote awareness and appreciation.

His talk will be at 6 p.m. July 9 at the Komohana Agriculture Research and Extension Center, 875 Komohana St. in Hilo, and is open to the public.

Shallenberger, a conservation biologist, has photographed wildlife on five continents and dozens of Pacific islands. His photos have appeared in numerous books and magazines, such as National Geographic, National Wildlife, Audubon, Defenders, Natural History and Aloha.

In 2010, his illustrated book, “Hawaiian Birds of the Sea,” was published by UH Press.
